BETA Creates a Nutrition Advisors Register

I am so happy to see BETA create a new equine nutrition and feed advisor register (ENFAR), it is so badly needed.

Many feed advisors are employees of brands that are more sales reps than feed advisors. I am sure there are many out there who have good qualifications in respect to equine nutrition, but after speaking to a few, there are definitely gaps in the industry.

At the moment there is no specific qualification to be an equine nutritionist or feed advisor. Nothing like doing veterinary, or you BHS exams to become an instructor, so BETA creating this register is fantastic step forward to develop standardization.

It enables people who have qualifications and experience to apply to fit into a range of roles; from equine nutritionist, early career equine nutritionist, feed advisors and retail feed advisors.

BETA says:

"In the absence of protected status for the role of equine nutritionist, BETA ENFAR provides a platform to showcase those equine nutritionists and feed advisers who conduct themselves professionally and engage in continued professional development (CPD) to stay up to date with the latest knowledge"

It will also give horse riders and owners piece of mind that they are getting good quality sourced, evidence based advise, from a qualified professional.
